Delta Queen Says Goodbye to Chattanooga
The boat began service as an overnight passenger vessel in 1927.
It will travel to the New Orleans area, where she will undergo a full renovation before setting sail again for the 2016 cruising season.
Guests who purchase tickets aboard a chartered Southern Belle cruise will pay tribute to the Delta Queen in a historic send-off that follows her journey under the Market Street Bridge and down river through Mocassin Bend to William’s Island. A Calliope concert will provide a fitting farewell before the boats exchange whistle blows, balloons are released and the Delta Queen continues on her journey down the Mississippi River.
The Delta Queen is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a classified as a National Historic Landmark.
