New assisted living and memory care opens in Walker County

ROSSVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) — “Morning Pointe at Happy Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care” has officially opened in Rossville, Georgia.

The senior living community welcomed its first residents on Black Friday, November 24.

It is located at 2989 Happy Valley Road, not far from Ridgeland High School and Rossville Middle.

They will hold a holiday-themed grand opening on December 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. The living center will have a formal program and ribbon cutting, which will also include Ridgeland’s JRTOC and music from Ridgeland’s choir and band.

Following the program, the living center will offer tours and chef-prepared food. They say Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance as well.

The Happy Valley senior living has 58 assisted living apartments and 24 memory care apartments. These are “specially designed for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of memory loss,” according to Morning Pointe.

This community is Morning Pointe’s 38th location, and second location in Georgia.

It sits on the 300-acre Happy Valley Farm, which John L. Hutcheson established in 1938. It was once a cattle and dairy farm, and horse breeding facility.

But in 2020, the co-founder and president of Morning Pointe, Greg A. Vital, purchased the farm. He says he purchased the land for preservation and development.

Morning Pointe says this assisted living is part of their “community redevelopment” of Happy Valley Farms.
