Former Hamilton County Commissioner Fred Skillern passes away
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Longtime Hamilton County public servant Fred Skillern has passed away.

Skillern served on the school board and the county commission, along with several other boards.
A life-long resident of Soddy Daisy, Skillern served on the Hamilton County School Board for 20 years.
He then moved on to serve as a county commissioner for more than a decade.
Skillern also worked on the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Carter Street Corporation, the local sports committee and the Soddy Daisy Planning Commission.
He was 87.
