New Year’s Eve Party was a hit
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A New Years Eve party has been in the works in Chattanooga.
“Several months ago, we looked at different locations and areas we would consider hosting the city’s first New Year’s Eve celebration. We chose right in front of the Tennessee Aquarium. Beautiful backdrop with a couple great local bands and the turnout was absolutely fantastic,” Brian Smith the Communication Director for Parks and Outdoors said.
Smith explained how good the turnout was.
“We knew we might see a couple thousand that would come out, instead we ended up seeing almost 8,000 Chattanoogans come and enjoy. We saw all ages and backgrounds. A very diverse crowd, and they all had a wonderful time,” said Smith.
There was plenty to do for all in attendance.
“The Chattanooga Fire Cabaret was there. We had Soul Aerobics doing line dancing. We also had some great local vendors that were participating in this too,” Smith said. “I think overall families had a great time ringing in the new year. Plus, we had confetti cannons and great music and singing and all the above.”
And plans are already being made for next year’s event.
“We are already starting to think about what we can do a little differently going into next year. There are a few things with logistics that we will look at that maybe we will change from this past year. Being the success that this was, I think it’s a given we can start our very own tradition here in Chattanooga,” said Smith.
There are still a few questions to work through, but it looks like the New Years Eve party is here to stay.
Smith explained, “As we look into the years to come, this is something that could really put Chattanooga on the map. We’ll figure out in years to come to what we want to drop here in the city. There are a lot of different options that are out there. I can see this growing based on the success we had here, just seeing that moment when the confetti cannons went off and everyone was singing the traditional New Year’s Eve songs, fantastic.”
