Two face life-threatening injuries from DeKalb County stabbing
DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WDEF) — A stabbing occurred in DeKalb County over the weekend and one man is now behind bars.
Authorities identified that man as 52-year-old Ballard Eugene Pennington, Jr., aka “BB.”
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said the assault happened on Sunday, January 7 at a home on Dawson Avenue. The home is in the Shiloh community, authorities explained.
A deputy arrived, saw a man fleeing the area on foot and detained him.
There were two victims at the house with life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
DeKalb deputies and Rainsville police officers rendered first aid to the victims and an ambulance arrived shortly after. They did not give an update on the current injuries or wellbeing of the victims.
Pennington now faces two counts of first-degree domestic violence, which is a Class A felony.
However, the sheriff’s office said they are still investigating, and charges may change.
“Thank you to all 1st responders for your swift action in rendering aid to the victims and also in the arrest of the assailant,” said Sheriff Nick Welden. “We are focused on protecting the citizens of this county, especially the ones who cannot protect themselves. Please pray for the victims as well as their family.”
