Chattanooga church builds housing for homeless veterans
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A local church recently built a new housing complex for homeless veterans in Chattanooga.
The project was a two-unit duplex in the Alton Park community. The units have two bedrooms and one bathroom.
The duplex will be available to house families and individuals seeking help through the World Restoration Center Church.
It took six months and $180,000 to complete, the church said. It was a collaboration between the church and Infinite Construction, who plan to continue building affordable housing in the future.
“This came about after praying, seeking God, and talking to our members about how we could best help meet the needs of the people concerning affordable housing, and the vision was born,” stated Pastor Thomas. “Since embarking on this, Mr. Reginald Jordan and his company Infinite Construction stepped up to help us bring this vision into fruition, and so here we are completing our first property.”
The church said that pastor Dr. E. Jonathan Thomas builds housing in alignment with Mayor Tim Kelly’s ONE CHATTANOOGA Plan. His goal is to decrease homelessness and expand affordable housing.
