Frazier Avenue traffic project ends Thursday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The orange traffic barrels along Frazier Avenue have been removed.
In the month of December, crews placed barrels were used to get drivers to slow down. The traffic change was extended earlier this month so the city could collect more data on traffic patterns.
The traffic project came after two people were killed by a drunk driver.
The city reduced the speed limit along Frazier Avenue to 25 miles per hour, mainly on weekends when traffic was heavier.
Some locals want a permanent traffic change and others aren’t too fond of the idea.
“I think our main goal is for people just to slow down so people feel safe when they come down here. And when they are getting out of their cars in front of the shops or behind the shops, they do not feel like somebody is going to move them over. When people are on their phones and they are driving too fast, that is what tends to happen,” said Katherine Daniels, owner of Plum Nelly Shop.
There has been no official word yet on a permanent solution to make Frazier safer.
