Giant pothole takes out 7 vehicles in Alabama
Drivers suffered blowouts after hitting the hole in the interstate
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WDEF) – Crews are patching highways across the south after last week’s winter storm.
But one pothole in Alabama became a sudden priority last night.
A fire official in the Rocky Ridge community in Birmingham says the pothole on I-459 has been there for awhile.
But it suddenly got bigger around 6PM on Thursday.
Seven consecutive vehicles hit the hole and they all suffered tire blowouts.
The incident forced crews to block several lanes of the interstate, to help the drivers plus to block off the giant pothole.
Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident.
Highway crews got the hole patched just before midnight.
