Chattanooga home damaged, car destroyed in fire
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A vehicle caught on fire in Chattanooga over the weekend and posed a threat to a nearby house.
A vehicle caught fire on the 2100 block of Citico Avenue early Sunday morning at about 12:30 a.m. The Chattanooga Fire Department said the car fire was very close to a house.
The car was fully engulfed in flames upon the arrival of firefighters.
Heat from the fire caused plastic siding on the house to melt, according to the CFD.
Firefighters immediately started attacking the fire and they also entered the house to check for occupants of flames inside.
All occupants had already exited the home and firefighters said there was no fire inside.
The fire department said they had the blaze under control at 12:46 a.m.
Authorities are now investigating to determine what caused the fire.
They deemed the car a total loss, and said the house received damage as well.
Additionally, it caused scorch burns on another nearby car.
The CFD says no one was injured in this incident.
