OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) — A large wreck happened on I-75 Thursday night in the Ooltewah area.

On Friday, the Chattanooga Police Department confirmed that one person died in the wreck.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. on Thursday at Exit 11.

The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department had said there was entrapment in the wreckage.

CPD says three people were injured in one car. The driver and back-seat passenger had injuries that were not life-threatening.

However, the front-seat passenger died upon impact, CPD said. Police have not released the victim’s identity.

Here is what police say caused the wreck:

“The accident was a result of an unknown erratic driver that caused another to swerve to avoid collision. The vehicle that swerved then hit a vehicle that was parked and unoccupied on the right shoulder of the road.”

I-75 northbound was shut down temporarily as crews worked the scene.

Traffic finally started moving again around 7:30 p.m.
