Highway 58 VFD fights explosive camper fire Sunday morning

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A camper caught fire in Harrison early Sunday morning, causing explosions.

The Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the location of the fire at around 4 a.m. A camper was on fire next to a house at 9131 North Hickory Valley Road.

The camper was consumed by flames when firefighters arrived. At the time, they were unsure if anyone was inside. There had been multiple explosions due to several propane tanks inside, firefighters said.

Homeowners told crews no one should have been inside the camper at the time of the fire. There was a power cord attached to the camper at the time, though, according to fire crews.

The Highway 58 VFD said there were no injuries.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is now working to determine what caused the fire.
