Fentanyl seized and one in custody following investigation

One person is in custody following a drug bust after an investigation.

According to Sheriff Tommy Jones, on May 27, 2026, a joint investigation between the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Madisonville Police Department, Sweetwater Police Department, and the Vonore Police Department led to the execution of a search warrant in the Oak Grove Road area.

He says as a result of the search, law enforcement officers seized over 85 grams of fentanyl, along with methamphetamine, marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia.

One suspect was taken into custody and is facing multiple felony charges.

The street value of the fentanyl seized is estimated to be several thousand dollars.

Jones says this seizure potentially prevented countless dangerous and deadly doses from reaching the streets of Monroe County.
