Cleveland Board opposes school consolidation

Resolution explains why they don't think combining Cleveland and Bradley County schools is a good idea

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Cleveland City School Board is dead set against consolidating with the county schools.

The board passed a referendum on Monday saying they will not take part in any discussion of consolidation.

Some county leaders had brought up the idea when the city school director announced he was leaving.

This was Dr. Dyer’s last school board meeting.

Consolidation backers argue that combining the systems would save money and be more efficient.

But the city school board resolution says no school consolidation in Tennessee has actually saved funding.
