City officials celebrate Community Project Funding in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – State Representative Chuck Fleischmann celebrates his Community Project Funding in Chattanooga on Monday.

“In my role as Tennessee’s sole appropriator in the house I was able not only to advocate for my community project fundings, but I was able to procure every community project funding project that every tendency member put in for,” said Rep. Fleischmann.

The money will be used towards UTC, Chattanooga Police Department, United Way and EPB.

Representative Fleischmann is also committed to improving infrastructure and technology.

“Together with the great city of Chattanooga with our mayor, we have forged in the EPB, An Oak Ridge tentative partnership,” said Rep. Fleischmann. “There is no other partnership between the National Lab in no other city anywhere in the country.”

According to Representative Fleischmann, millions of dollars have been requested in Hamilton County as a part of the community project funding.

Chattanooga’s Mayor Tim Kelly says the funding is a big investment to economic development.

“I want to say these are investments that drives economic growth,” said Mayor Kelly. “There is obviously a lot of rhetoric around expense in the budget, but these are really important investments, that will help push Chattanooga forward. We cannot thank the Congressman enough for that.”

The Community Project Funding is currently helping local projects across the country.

Mayor Kelly believes these funds are a step forward in benefiting the future of Chattanooga.

“These are investments that will bring us economic benefit in the future and in absent them, we would not have that. Again, I want to thank Congressman Fleischmann for his vision and his political courage,” said Mayor Kelly. “It is not a particularly popular opinion in the GOP at the moment, but it is the right thing to do.”
