Olympiad day at Chattanooga State
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Tennessee-American Water held their annual elementary school science Olympiad at Chattanooga State today.
Nearly 300 students in third through fifth grades worked on various projects that involved math and science.
Tennessee-American says they hold this event every year as a way to encourage these students about science, while also building their curiosity and interest about a possible future in STEM.
“Our volunteers really love this event because they see the enthusiasm from these children and today, I heard a story of one of the professors here at Chatt state that he decided to go into this field because of the science Olympiad just hearing stories like that and seeing the kid’s energy here and how they really have dedicated their selves to learning these activates is very inspirational,” said External Affairs Manager
At the end of the Olympiad, the students earned medals for all of their hard work.
