Commission approves six million for road safety projects
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Hamilton County Commission did approve six million dollars for road improvements across the county.
This will go towards safety improvements at 11 different intersections.
Many of these intersections are in the Ooltewah and Middle Valley areas along Hunter and Middle Valley Roads.
Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp proposed these improvements as increased attention to these roads due to population growth has necessitated these projects.
Some residents say this should be the first step in dealing with these issues.
One Hamilton County resident, Gary Boles, told commissioners, “Now that the need for infrastructure has floated near the top of the county priority list, I hope that we can see appropriate tempering of growth with infrastructure. I believe citizen involvement letting government entities know our concern is necessary to improve our county.”
The county says that they expect the $5.8 million fund to be leveraged to $8 million through grant matches.
