Cleveland, Dunlap announced they will receive new grants

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) — Cleveland and Dunlap recently announced they are receiving grants to benefit the cities.

Bradley County received four grants to improve broadband access in the Cleveland area.

The state funding targets improving workers digital skills. That includes tackling training, facilities, public Wi-Fi and devices for cheaper internet plans.

State Representative Kevin Raper said the funding should help workers become more competitive.

All of the funding must be spent by the end of 2026.

Additionally, the City of Dunlap has landed a grant to rehabilitate an old block in the downtown area.

The city gets more than $600,000 to work on the old Victory Automotive property on Walnut Street and Rankin Avenue.

It used to be an auto repair and used car dealership.

The area has been vacant since the business closed four years ago.

The grant money will be used to clean up chemical contaminants so the two and a half acres can be sold for new development.

Chattanooga is also getting similar funding to improve Brownfields across the city.
