SUV crashes into fire station in Soddy-Daisy

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A vehicle crashed into a fire station in Soddy-Daisy on Wednesday afternoon and caused major damage, according to the Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management.

A bystander called 911 reporting an SUV crashed into the building at around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The damaged building, Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department Station 2, is located at 9372 West Ridge Trail Road.

First responders said a man was driving the SUV and he had minor injuries.

HCEMS treated the driver on the scene and released him to his family.

The Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management (HCOEM) said the damages to the building are severe. They are awaiting insurance to determine if it is a total loss.

Firefighters said no one was inside the building when the crash happened.

Fire Chief Danny Cooke said the station housed a rapid intervention drill training maze and a rescue truck. The truck was not damaged.

Soddy Daisy police, Sequoyah firefighters and HCEMS responded to the incident.
