Both suspects involved in shooting a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper now in custody

UPDATE:  Both suspects wanted in connection to the shooting of a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper have been arrested.

On July 23, police arrested the driver of the white Kia Forte, Timothy L. Davis Jr., in Nashville, Tennessee.

Passenger, Braze Rucker was arrested in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 21, in Princeton, Kentucky.

Both are in custody and have been transported to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Jail.

Davis is charged with one count of attempted first degree murder, while Rucker is charged with criminal responsibility of facilitation of a felony in connection to the shooting on Friday.

Law enforcement used trooper Adam Cothron’s handcuffs to arrest both suspects.

Cothron is still in Nashville receiving treatment.


PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A suspect who shot a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper has been located and is now in custody.

On Friday, July 19, at 7:47 p.m., trooper Adam Cothron pulled over a white Kia Forte for a traffic violation in Putnam County.

During the traffic stop, Cothron was shot and two suspects fled the scene.

The Kia forte was later found abandoned in Sumner County off of Highway 109.

Trooper Cothron was flown into Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he is currently receiving treatment.

One suspect was later identified as Braze Rucker.

Early this morning, Tennessee Highway Patrol posted on Facebook that Rucker had been found and is in custody.

Rucker was located and arrested in Princeton, Kentucky by the Kentucky State Police.

Rucker was transported to the Hopkinsville, Kentucky Police Department.

There is still an ongoing investigation to locate the other occupant who was involved.
