Alabama has “most acceptable roads” in the country in new survey
Tennessee and Georgia also rank very high
WASHINGTON D.C. (WDEF) – A new report finds that Alabama has the best roads in America.
Plus Tennessee and Georgia aren’t far behind in the rankings.
Suzuki Law Offices analyzed highway stats from the Department of Transportation to compare road quality.
Specifically, their ranking is based on the percentage of highway miles in each state that are deemed to be acceptable quality.
Alabama came out on top with a 98.25% rating.
Tennessee ranks 6th nationally, while Georgia is 11th.
All three states plus North Carolina rate above the national average.
Louisiana (7th worst) and Mississippi (5th worst) are on the other end of the scale.
But the worst roads in America, according to the ranking, are in Hawaii, with only 61.32% acceptable.
Richard Suzuki of Suzuki Law Offices concludes “Whilst Hawaii and Rhode Island are some of the smaller states with less main highways than others, they still receive large amounts of visitors per year who will not be used to their road conditions. This is especially troubling for states with many miles of road, therefore increasing the likelihood of accidents due to uneven surfaces.”
