AT&T workers on strike during negotiations
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A group of AT&T workers are currently on strike in Chattanooga.
The Communications Workers of America say they are currently in difficult negotiations for a new collective bargaining deal since the beginning of June.
They say in order to put pressure on the company over issues such as safety concerns, they have formed a picket line in front of the A-T-and-T building on M-L-K Boulevard.
This is the first such strike since 20-19, and are claiming AT&T is negotiating in bad faith.
Bill Slack, the President of the local chapter of the Communications Workers for America said, “Yeah, we’re out here not getting paid, but we’re enjoying because we feel like we’re not getting a fair deal, and this is how we’re going to get it… We did it in 2019, it was three and a half days. Could be three and a half days, could be two weeks, we don’t know, they’ll tell us when to get back to work.”
There have been walkouts since Friday in several Southern states.
