Chattanooga and UTC celebrate olympic gold medalist Olivia Reeves

 

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Chattanoogans and UTC students gathered around Vine Street to watch a parade dedicated to Olivia Reeves.

Reeves won gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics, August 9, 2024 in women’s weightlifting.

Many organizations were in attendance for Reeves’s parade, her former schools Saint Jude and Notre Dame, and many organizations she supports.

UTC Cheerleaders and the UTC band marched to Chamberlain Field and did a small performance on the lawn.

Afterwards, a ceremony was held where many local leaders spoke, including Chattanooga City Mayor Tim Kelly and Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp.

Mayor Wamp and Kelly both dedicated August 9, Olivia Reeves Day, and Mayor Kelly also gave Reeves the key to the city.

Olivia stayed after the ceremony, meeting fans and signing autographs.
