Firefighters respond to early morning house fire in Hixson

HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) — A family escaped a house fire early Wednesday morning in Hixson.

Chattanooga firefighters responded around 5:30 a.m.

They found heavy smoke coming from the 1300 block of Highcrest Drive.

Thankfully, everyone got out safely.

Firefighters quickly got the fire under control.

Three adults and four children are displaced. The Red Cross will be assisting the residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
