Downed Tree knocks out power on Fredonia Mountain
DUNLAP, Tennessee (WDEF) – One single tree has caused some major power disruptions on Fredonia Mountain.
The Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative reported more than 700 customers out of power on the mountain overlooking Dunlap.
They tell us that one big tree fell on power lines, which knocked out power across the mountain.
SVEC also reported more than a hundred people without power in the Pikeville area.
But overall, power disruptions have been minimal across the Tennessee Valley this morning.
Officials had feared more downed lines from high winds from Hurricane Helene.
But the storm veered east instead, sparing our area from the worst winds.
Still, we could see high wind gusts throughout the day.
