HCS EdConnect and Hamilton County School Board Meet to Discuss Progress and Future Initiatives for Student Internet Access
In a significant step forward for local education, HCS EdConnect, powered by EPB, recently held a meeting with the Hamilton County School Board to share updates on its progress and future plans. Launched four years ago, HCS EdConnect has already provided no-cost internet access to over 10,000 households in Hamilton County. This program is designed to help students succeed academically especially in an age where online resources are crucial for learning.
“Locally, even beyond federal connections—which are great—it’s wonderful that our schools have been resilient in ensuring these young people and families have what they need to succeed. We have numbers that show they are succeeding in academic performance and achieving economic goals, so it was great to work with the school board members,” said Monique Quarterman, President & CEO of The Enterprise Center.
HCS EdConnect not only provides high-speed internet but also supports families in understanding and utilizing these resources effectively. The program has been instrumental in enhancing educational outcomes for students.
“The biggest takeaway, of course, is that this program benefits not just one part of the community. We’re seeing positive impacts downtown, in our suburban areas, and in rural communities, helping students in each of these locations. We definitely hear from families about how this has made a positive difference in their lives,” said Rachel Emond with HCS EdConnect.
