Tennessee Aquarium peaks to go dark for upgrades
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Tennessee Aquarium’s peaks will go dark soon for upgrades to their lighting system.
The lighting on the peaks were installed in December of 2019.
Since then, the lights have had some issues with reliability.
The Tennessee Aquarium said this new LED system promises greater durability.
This new system has been tested in tough environments such as the exterior of a cruise ship.
Starting Monday, October 21, is when the installation process will begin.
Patrons will see individuals rappelling around the peaks as they work to replace the old lights.
The Aquarium also says while the peaks will be dark for a while, the new lights will illuminate Chattanooga’s skyline for years to come.
