Monroe county Cherohala Skyway homicide victim identified
MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The victim in the Monroe County, Cherohala Skyway homicide has been identified.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said in a release, the victim is Steven Douglas Lloyd of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Lloyd’s family has been located and notified.
MCSO said while speaking to the family, they learned Lloyd was adopted.
Lloyd also suffered from trust issues and had been diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder.
He was known to live on the streets, but kept contact with his family.
It was also discovered that Steven loved being outside.
MCSO reported the suspect, Nicholas Wayne Hamlett befriended Steven, and lured him into a wooded area.
Hamlett then killed Lloyd in the evening hours of October 18, 2024.
Hamlett is still at large, and authorities are working to apprehend him.
