Registration is still open for the Grateful Gobbler 5K

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – It’s not too late to start a new Thanksgiving family tradition by signing up for the Grateful Gobbler 5K.

Celebrating 25 years of the Chattanooga tradition, the Grateful Gobbler 5K marathon returns this year on Thanksgiving Day, November 28. Festivities begin at Coolidge Park at 8 A.M. and all are welcome to either run, walk, or cheer. On average, it takes someone an hour to complete a 5K, so many can expect to be home by 10 A.M. and still have time to prepare for Thanksgiving dinner.

Every penny from donations and registration fees will go straight toward the Maclellan Shelter for Families and homeless services. The organization is one of the few shelters in the Tennessee Valley that keeps families together.

Through the month of November, Grateful Gobbler volunteers will be around the community seeking for support for the Shelter.

T-shirts are included with registration fees, unless the family decides to join last second after sleeping in. Additionally, if you want to sport the “turk-riffic” hats that News 12’s Amelia Greer is wearing, it will also be sold at the event.
