Bells are ringing for the Salvation Army Angel Tree
Major Douglas McClure joins News 12’s Amelia Greer to encourage everyone to give back and help provide a memorable Christmas to families in need.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Once again, the Salvation Army bells are ringing in the season of giving with calls for volunteers and Angel Tree adoptions.
Angels trees are appearing across the Chattanooga area at multiple Wal-Marts, the Hamilton Place Mall, and the Northgate Mall. Major Douglas McClure encourages people to celebrate the season of giving by grabbing angel tag while shopping during Black Friday.
The Angel Tree recipients are children of ages 0 to 12 and seniors this year. The tag has three pieces which include information on the recipient, a label for the gift, and a receipt for tax deductions.
While some may not be able to adopt an angel this year, many can still give back by volunteering as community bellringers. The Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign is the organizations largest campaign of the year. Volunteers can sign up for four hours shifts this year and be joined with friends and family.
