Attorney charged with forging chancellor’s signature in Rhea Co.

RHEA COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A man from Chickamauga, Georgia has been charged with forgery after a conducted investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

TBI special agents began the investigation after a request from the 12th Judicial District Attorney General Courtney Lynch.

On September 9, 2024, agents began looking into allegations of a forged signature of a 12th Judicial District Chancellor.

According to the TBI, agents gathered enough information to identify Alan Norton responsible.

Norton is an attorney based out of Hamilton County.

The Rhea County Gran Jury returned an indictment charging Norton with one county of Forgery and one county of Criminal Simulation on December 2, 2024.

The following day, Norton turned himself into the Rhea County Jail, where he was booked on a $15,000 bond.
