Catoosa County presents 4 schools with Math Excellence Awards

RINGGOLD, GA. (WDEF) – In Catoosa County, students and educators have something big to celebrate excellence in math education.

The Georgia Department of Education recognized schools for significant achievements or growths in the percentage of students scoring at the professional learner level or above in math.

The awarded schools, Heritage Middle School, Heritage High School, LFO High School, and Ringgold Middle School were individually awarded a banner to take back to their school that included a distinct ribbon to represent the meaning of their award.

When asked what the awards meant for the county, Richard Woods, the Georgia State Superintendent stated that “what it means to me is that we have great things going on in the state of Georgia and it’s a celebration of our local districts for the hard work that they do for the educators, the teachers of the classroom.”

He also went on to mention that “it’s a very proud moment for the state and we look forward to seeing that growth continue.”

This honor underscores the importance of mathematics in students’ education and future careers.

The County remains committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities for all students.
