Tuition hikes approved at UT campuses by Board of Trustees
PULASKI, Tenn. (WDEF)- Tuition hikes at all University of Tennessee campuses have been approved this afternoon.
The UT Board of Trustees held that vote at the UT Southern campus in Pulaski.
UTC students can expect an over $300 increase in tuition, which is roughly a three percent hike this year.
Students at the flagship Knoxville campus can expect a roughly one percent hike of roughly $150.
This comes as the UT system is currently undertaking over three billion dollars in capital projects across the state, including nearly $500 million worth of projects here at the Chattanooga campus.
UT system president Randy Boyd explained, “We have to do it. If we’re going to meet the needs of our students and our faculty as we continue to grow, they have to have the facilities to do it. This isn’t something that we’re doing just because we like building things.”
Over half of those projects are being done at the Knoxville campus.
