Red Bank invites feedback on former Red Bank Middle School site
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The City of Red Bank hosted a “Public Input Pop-Up” at its Christmas Festival, inviting locals to vote on concepts for the former Red Bank Middle School site.
The 12-acre site at 3715 Dayton Blvd has been part of the ongoing planning efforts since discussions began over a decade ago.
The project officially launched in 2024, with the goal of incorporating community input and addressing key issues.
Local resident Jenny Watson said, “The land belongs to the community to be used as a park. That’s the way it needs to go.”
Two workshops earlier this year gathered feedback on draft ideas for land use, mobility, and visioning for the site.
Beverly Bell, Planner and Landscape Architect with TSW, stated, “This is our first touchpoint with the public since a summer workshop where we collected initial ideas. We’ll gather input on what people like about Concept A and Concept B to develop a combined plan.”
Red Bank officials emphasized the importance of a transparent and collaborative process to ensure the site meets community needs while addressing competing interests.
Community members are encouraged to attend upcoming Red Bank meetings to review draft plans.
Watson adds, “Well, I think that everybody needs to vote on this, and I think this kind of stuff is a great lead-in to what they feel about this park. Because I know that there’s a lot of people in Red Bank that feel the same way that I do.”
Feedback from today’s event will help planners refine the concepts by combining the best features of both plans into one final design.
Other various feedback was gathered on draft project goals, needs, and opportunities at the Red Bank Jubilee.
In January 2025, there will be one final opportunity for residents to voice their opinions on the Comprehensive Plan and final design for the site.
