Chattanooga Fire Department announces death of on duty firefighter
LUPTON CITY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) is releasing new details about the tragic loss they shared over the weekend.
Captain George Turley of Engine 16 Blue Shift passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, due to a medical emergency.
According to CFD, Turley was doing his daily workout in the gym in the apparatus bay by the fire truck when he suffered the medical
emergency.
Crew members found him unresponsive, called 911, and initiated CPR.
Turley was rushed to the hospital, but later died.
He served for CFD for 31 years.
Turley leaves behind his wife, Debbie, and their two sons.
CFD states he was an active member in the Hixson community, making school and station visits a memorable time for children.
