Chattanooga Police respond to shots fired near Brainerd High School

 

BRAINERD, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Officers with the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) responded to shots fired outside of Brainerd High School over the weekend.

At 6:15 p.m. December 14, 2024, CPD officers were working at a basketball game being held at Brainerd High School when one officer heard shots being fired outside.

CPD stated the officers searched the area for victims and suspects while also alerting nearby officers.

No victims were located but officers discovered shell casings near the roadway of 1000 block of North Moore Road.

This is currently an ongoing investigation.

Hamilton County Schools commented on the incident, stating:

Hamilton County Schools is aware of an incident involving gunfire in a school parking lot following a basketball game between Howard High School and Brainerd High School over the weekend. 

HCS has worked closely with the Chattanooga Police Department regarding the incident to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, schools, and community. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority, and we are committed to maintaining secure and supportive environments.

We thank local law enforcement for their swift response and ongoing collaboration as we work together to keep our schools safe.
