Chattanooga Public Works hit the roads in preparation for wintery inclement weather
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – In preparation for inclement winter weather, the Chattanooga Department of Public Works is mobilizing the city’s comprehensive snow and ice road treatment plan.
The treatment plan focuses on first clearing primary routes and access roads for hospitals, emergency responders, and emergency facilities. Secondary routes that feed into primary routes are treated second. The treatment plan goes into effect starting January 8 until the roads are deemed safe.
Teams will monitor road conditions throughout the next few days and will retreat roads as necessary. Refreezing could occur due to low temperatures.
During this inclement weather, leaf pick up routes will be suspended temporarily so crews may focus on road safety.
Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary during this inclement weather event. Additionally, cars parked on streets should be moved to allow an efficient treatment to the roads.
