Chattanooga Police investigating fatal crash on Apison Pike
APISON, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police (CPD) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Apison Pike early Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to the 8000 block of Apison Pike for a traffic crash with injuries at 1:00 a.m., January 15, 2025.
Upon arrival, officers located two individuals inside a GMC Envoy with non-life-threatening injuries, and one with life-threatening injuries.
The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) and other organizations arrived on scene to assist with the crash.
CFD and the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department executed a “door pop” operation to extricate the individuals with life-threatening injuries.
Hamilton County EMS transported the three individuals to a local hospital.
The individual who suffered life-threatening injuries has been identified as a 46-year-old woman, who tragically passed away at the hospital.
CPD’s preliminary investigation reveals that the GMC was traveling west on Apison Pike when the driver ran a redlight at Summit Springs Way.
When doing so, the driver stuck a Kenworth semi-trailer in a “head-on manner”.
According to CPD, the GMC continued right and struck a Dodge Ram that was waiting at a traffic light.
