Chattanooga Police investigating fatal crash on Apison Pike

APISON, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Chattanooga Police (CPD) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Apison Pike early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the 8000 block of Apison Pike for a traffic crash with injuries at 1:00 a.m., January 15, 2025.

Upon arrival, officers located two individuals inside a GMC Envoy with non-life-threatening injuries, and one with life-threatening injuries.

The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) and other organizations arrived on scene to assist with the crash.

CFD and the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department  executed a “door pop” operation to extricate the individuals with life-threatening injuries.

Hamilton County EMS transported the three individuals to a local hospital.

The individual who suffered life-threatening injuries has been identified as a 46-year-old woman, who tragically passed away at the hospital.

CPD’s preliminary investigation reveals that the GMC was traveling west on Apison Pike when the driver ran a redlight at Summit Springs Way.

When doing so, the driver stuck a Kenworth semi-trailer in a “head-on manner”.

According to CPD, the GMC continued right and struck a Dodge Ram that was waiting at a traffic light.
