Firefighters respond to Westside Community Center Thursday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Firefighters responded to a fire at the Westside Community Center Thursday afternoon at 3:41 p.m.
The call came in from the Sheila Jennings Recreational Center on 1201 Poplar Street on an automatic fire alarm.
When they got to the scene, firefighters noticed smoke coming from the building.
Personnel met with the property manager who said there was a roll of toilet paper on fire in the girls bathroom.
He said he used an extinguished and thought it was out.
However, crews went in to investigate and found that it was still burning. They brought it outside and put the fire out.
They worked to remove smoke from the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
