CDOT announces emergency road closures around Chattanooga

Road ClosedCHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Two locations in Chattanooga have prompted emergency road closures, according to CDOT.

The first location is at the 500 block of McCallie Avenue.

This area will be closed for emergency repairs and paving, effective immediately.

CDOT stated detours will be posted via Douglas street, East MLK Boulevard, and Houston Street.

This work should be completed before rush hour.

The second location is the Jersey Pike grade crossing.

According to CDOT, Norfolk Southern Railroad notified them of a track defect on the Jersey Pike grade crossing.

The closure is estimated to start at 5:00 p.m. and continue overnight.

CDOT says Jersey Pike will reopen before morning rush hour on Tuesday.
