Could WUTC Radio Merge with WTCI TV?

Chattanooga (WDEF) UTC is pursuing a deal to combine their public radio station with local PBS affiliate

Public Broadcasting source Current.org reports on discussions of a merger between the two entities that could include moving into one facility.

UTC is trying to relive the budget drain from WUTC radio of about $5.8 million dollars.

The station is already undergoing budget cuts.

The idea is that a merger with WTCI TV could save money.

However, WTCI GM Paul Grove is skeptical, saying his organization doesn’t have the money to subsidize the radio station.

Still, UTC has formed a task force to explore the possibilities.
