DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) – Today is Pi Day and the best way to celebrate the irrational number 3.14159 is with an irrational amount of pies from the Cookie Jar Café!
Cookie Jar Café is a Tennessee Valley favorite, known for its beautiful view of the mountains while serving up some delicious southern comfort food. The restaurant is especially known for their pies and cakes as high as the mountains surrounding it. So much so, their desserts make up 25% of their sales!
Sue Anne Lockhart visited the News 12 studio to show just a few of the pies the Cookie Jar Café bakes. It includes flavors like chocolate, lemon, coconut, and butterscotch which is all made in-house. It’s also strawberry season, so now is the best time to try all their fan-favorite strawberry desserts. All made from a family recipe that has been passed down for generations.
On top of their remarkable treats, they had a remarkable recovery from a June 2023 fire that damaged the restaurant. The community came together and now the restaurant has been open for nearly two years since the fire.
