Trail restoration set to begin at Stringer’s Ridge following wildfire damage
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Starting Monday, April 21, the City of Chattanooga, in partnership with the City of Red Bank, will launch major trail restoration efforts at Stringer’s Ridge Park to repair damage caused by recent wildfires.
The project, expected to take about two weeks, will be handled by professional trail builders working alongside local arborists.
Restoration work will target four popular trails — Double J, Strut, Alta Vista, and Cherokee — all of which suffered significant damage from the fires and firefighting operations.
Efforts will focus on stabilizing trail surfaces, clearing debris, preventing erosion, and improving long-term safety.
For public safety and to allow crews to work without interruption, portions of the trails will be closed throughout the repairs.
Signage will be posted at trailheads and affected areas to mark closures.
City officials urge park visitors to respect closure signs and stay out of restricted zones.
Updates on the progress and trail reopening announcements will be shared through the social media channels of the City of Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors, the City of Red Bank, and SORBA Chattanooga.
