Cleveland Police warn of phone scam

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF)- Cleveland Police warn locals about a phone scam.

A man called an older lady Sunday and pretended to be her grandson, when she said it didn’t sound like him, he told her he had been in a car accident.

He told her he broke his nose, that’s why he sounded different, and needed to borrow $3,000. When the lady said she didn’t have that kind of money, the man told her to give her credit card information.

Cleveland Police warn to never give your information over the phone to avoid situations like this happening.

If you have experienced this phone scam or other scams, contact the Cleveland Police Department.
