Elderly couple lost their home in a fire
HARRISON, Tenn. (WDEF) — An elderly couple lost their home in a devastating fire this morning in the Harrison area.
At 9:53 a.m., the homeowner called 911 to report a fire at their residence located at 8733 Bethany Lane.
Fortunately, the family was able to evacuate safely with no injuries.
By 9:58 a.m., deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office arrived and reported flames visible through the roof.
Fire crews arrived shortly after and confirmed a fully involved structure fire, noting that part of the roof had already collapsed.
Once firefighters verified that all occupants were out of the home, they initiated a defensive strategy to contain the flames and protect a nearby propane tank from ignition.
Hamilton County EMS was also on scene to monitor firefighters for potential injuries, though none were reported.
Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department officials confirmed the home was a total loss.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
The American Red Cross has been contacted to assist the two displaced elderly residents with emergency relief.
