First Responder Hero Award: Lexie Mcnabb
South Pittsburg, Tenn. (WDEF) – News 12 is recognizing some of the bravest members of our community through the First Responder Hero Award.
Whether someone is an EMT, paramedic, firefighter, or police officer, this award honors their unwavering dedication to keeping us safe.
When danger strikes, these heroes are the first to respond.
Now, it’s our turn to put them first.
In partnership with Wettermark Keith, News 12 is proud to spotlight these courageous men and women, and this month, the community has nominated Lexie Mcnabb, Corporal with the South Pittsburg Police Department, for her hard work and dedication.
This month, South Pittsburg Police Officer Lexie Mcnabb has been nominated for the First Responder Hero Award by members of her community.
Officer Mcnabb has served with the South Pittsburg Police Department for the past three years.
But her journey into law enforcement wasn’t without its challenges.
“I’ve always had the urge to help people,” Mcnabb explained. “I grew up helping others, and I liked that people could come to me and I could help them. So I figured being in law enforcement was the best way to help the community and truly be a part of it.”
She emphasized that not everyone was immediately on board with her decision to enter the field.
“I mean, they were nervous,” she admitted. “They weren’t fond of it at first. But they supported me completely through the whole thing, so that was great.”
Despite early doubts from some, Mcnabb proved herself in the field, overcoming stereotypes and gaining respect through her hard work.
“It was rough,” she recalled. “A lot of people underestimated me due to my size and being a female. But I get all the support from my fellow officers. They respect me, and any time I need them, they’re there to help me.”
Officer Mcnabb expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of South Pittsburg.
“I enjoy serving this community,” she said. “I enjoy interacting with the people here, and I encourage you—if you ever need anything—to reach out, because we’ll always be there.”
