Multiple fatalities reported in six-vehicle crash on I-75

GORDON COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) —  A multi-vehicle crash on I-75 in Gordon County, Georgia, has left three people dead and several others injured.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash began when a northbound tractor-trailer collided with a Hyundai Sonata.

The tractor-trailer crossed the median after the initial crash, hitting two other semi-trucks and two cars — a Toyota Corolla and a Ford Ranger, which caught fire.

In total, six vehicles were involved.

Three people were killed, two others were taken to a nearby hospital, and two were uninjured.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, as next of kin have not been notified.

The GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is leading an ongoing investigation.

The cause of the initial crash that set off the chain of events remains undetermined at this time.
