Memphis man sentenced to over 15 years in prison after shooting out of motel window

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)-  A Memphis man has been sentenced to over 15 years in prison because of a 2022 incident on Williams Street.

Mario Delanie received that sentence at the Chattanooga Federal Courthouse.

Court documents say in November 2022, Chattanooga Police responded to shots being fired out of a room at the Motel 6 in South Chattanooga.

Police say they actively saw Delanie shooting out of the motel room’s window, and that he shot at them while police were taking cover in the hallway.

Delanie eventually surrendered to police.

He pleaded guilty to possession of a fire as a felon, and because of three previous convictions for violent felonies, had to be sentenced to at least 15 years in prison.
