Cleveland will build two new schools in the city

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Cleveland City School system has decided to build two new facilities to keep up with their growing population.

Cleveland has added 5,500 new homes in the city since 2021, and that means student enrollment has been growing.

So the system has decided they need two new elementary schools to keep up.

They will build one in the northwest part of town and the other in the southwest.

The system has 7 elementary schools right now.

Here’s what’s next in the process:

— form a committee of school board and city council members to coordinate planning

— buy the property

— design the buildings

There is no date at this point for when the schools will be built.

“Together, we have carefully reviewed growth trends and worked to chart the best path forward, ensuring that new residential developments are matched with the educational infrastructure our community needs,” said Dr. Jeff Elliott, Director of Schools. “We look forward to the next phase, focusing on securing property and beginning the design process for these new schools.”
