Muffin Man’s Sweet Birthday Tour
COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (WDEF) – It was a sweet weekend in Collegedale as a beloved snack cake mascot wrapped up his birthday celebration in the city he calls home.
The Little Debbie Muffin Man ended his national birthday tour right where it all began in Collegedale, Tennessee.
The Chattanooga area food bank was in attendance, accepting donations.
We asked a McKee Foods spokesperson just how old the Muffin Man is turning this year.
Charlotte Aldridge, Advertising Specialist, McKee Food, told News 12 that “[The Muffin Man] is 205 years old. Recently, we have been to Louisville, we have been to Cincinnati for the Reds Parade, Nashville, and now we’re home in Collegedale.”
Families gathered at Little Debbie Park to celebrate the final stop of the tour, which marked the date of Muffin Man’s official birthday and the legacy of McKee Foods.
News 12 asked just what this means to the city of Collegedale, and this is what Aldridge stated:
“We want to give back, especially here in the Collegedale- Chattanooga Metro area. We just want to give back and let them know how much we appreciate them. It’s fun to have people come say ‘oh my favorite little Debbie is either muffins or oatmeal cream pie’. It’s always heartwarming to hear their favorite little Debbie.”
Little Debbie Park, known for its giant snack sculptures and whimsical play areas, was decked out with balloons, banners, and, of course, plenty of muffins.
Kids posed for photos with the Muffin Man himself, and even Little Debbie made an appearance.
People enjoyed games, giveaways, and themed treats inspired by Little Debbie favorites.
News 12 asked what the favorite stop on tour was for the Muffin Man, and this is what Aldridge told us:
“Oh, it’s been excellent. In Louisville, we went to the Slugger Museum, and it was so perfect. They tried to hit all the muffins. He finally got one and they made us some bats. It was just perfect.”
The event capped off a months-long tour that took the Muffin Man across the country, spreading smiles and snacks in honor of the brand’s long-standing history.
McKee Foods says the Muffin Man’s tour may be over for now, but fans can always visit Little Debbie Park to enjoy a taste of the magic year-round.
The Muffin Man may have crumbled his way to the end of the tour, but in Collegedale, the celebration was baked to perfection, leaving fans hungry for more sweet moments.
