Good Samaritan steps up after storms in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Here in Chattanooga, strong storms left a visible mark on the city, with downed trees and snapped power lines scattered across Alton Park Boulevard.

In the midst of the damage, one good Samaritan was spotted lending a hand.

He was seen helping an elderly woman by clearing large tree branches that had fallen around her home.

The woman, Carolyn Stewart, expressed deep gratitude for the kindness she received during what could have been an overwhelming moment.

She shared a glimpse into her situation, explaining that she now faces storms like this without her longtime partner by her side.

“Well, it’s wonderful to have a good neighbor,” Stewart said. “It’s wonderful that anybody will help you in moments like this. My husband’s been gone for about three years nearly, and nothing like this ever happened when he was here.”

The man who assisted Stewart preferred to remain anonymous, telling us he didn’t want any recognition—he simply wanted to help those he could.

His quiet act of service was a reminder of the resilience and compassion found in the Chattanooga community, especially during challenging times.
